After our 10+ tasters of ice cream at the Salt & Straw on 23rd Sarah Ruth and I “settled” on the following flavors: strawberry honey balsamic vinegar with cracked black pepper, freckled woodblock chocolate, pear with blue cheese, honey lavender, bourbon pecan pie, mexican cajeta, sea salt ice cream with caramel ribbon, and one which I cannot remember. And yes, all of those fit into two fresh waffle cones. Other original ice cream flavors on the menu on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving: mincemeat, pumpkin custard swirled in spiced chevre, and orange and thyme thanksgiving stuffing. My favorite part of our ice cream adventure? That $1 of every scoop was donated to De La Salle High School. Nothing is better than ice cream with a purpose.
